Together- We Have the Power to Make a Difference
In Loving Memory of Gaia
Gaia was a beloved community dog whose life was cut short by illegal and intentional poisoning. Her loss devastated those who knew her — and awakened a powerful commitment to protect the animals of Camotes from suffering.
Now, on the very same beach where Gaia took her last breath, we will host the largest Kapon and Ligation clinic in Camotes history.
This clinic is her legacy. A place where heartbreak becomes healing. A place where compassion replaces cruelty. A place where Gaia’s memory inspires lasting change.

How the Camotes Aspin Project Began
The Camotes Aspin* Project started with a simple act of compassion. While living and working on Camotes Island, freediving instructor Cassandra Cooper found herself caring for the island’s stray dogs and cats — animals who had no access to veterinary care, protection, or humane treatment.
What began as one person helping the animals in her neighborhood quickly grew into a community movement. Residents, travelers, and local partners came together, and with their support, Cassandra organized Camotes’ first-ever spay/neuter and wellness clinic.
The success of that first clinic revealed something powerful: Camotes was ready for humane, sustainable solutions.
From that moment, the Camotes Aspin Project was born — a grassroots effort dedicated to reducing suffering, empowering communities, and creating a kinder future for the island’s animals. Today, CAP continues to grow through collaboration, compassion, and the belief that every animal deserves care.
